So this was my choice! And I had to go out there and choose erotica.. Haha! (also really late making this review on my own book choice oops)
This was a funny and different book choice for book club for once and I wasn't that keen over it either! I found it rather funny than getting pleasure from reading it. The book did make me cringe quite often as well and I was reading parts of it like what????
Also not a fan of the rape scenes in this book.
Overall I do think this book is a lot better than fifty shades! I reacted a lot more to this book.. Laughed, cringed.. Fascinated by some parts!
I've got to say, the moment Tammy announced January's dry spell month was going to be Erotica-filled - I was ECSTATIC! I do enjoy a good filthy book from time-to-time and this fitted the bill.
Sadly, a few parts of the book had me cringing like with Emma. The whole background of their "tortured pasts" wasn't explored enough in the beginning, which was a shame, because meant alot of the time the reader is left confused. The overuse of vulgar wording is a little off-putting, and leaves the reader sometimes feeling a little dirty, rather than horny :')
Overall, it was a decent read, but could be tweaked in some places to make it great!
Overall I would give this book 3 out of 5 stars...This was my first ever erotica (gasp) but I love the fact that this book club is broadening my horizons to the genres I usually wouldn't pick up, thank you Tammy!
When I first started this book I have to admit I wasnt feeling it too much as in parts it came across a little corny. However, I later ended up devouring the book as I think it ended up being an easy read for me mostly because I had never read anything in this kind of genre before and was a little fascinated by everything.
On the other hand, there was a few things I found problematic... I found the characters pretty unrelatable (beautiful, perfect looking humans with a lavish lifestyle, apartment to match and a load of dollar, coincidentally surrounded by many other perfect looking humans) and also found them quite melodramatic in parts. Also the whole rape thing and Gideon wanking in his sleep etc was a strong no from me hahaha!
The book definitely did entertain me and some sex scenes were hot af, just a shame about the relatability and the rape scenes for me!

But still not the best book so I give this a 3/5
