I found this book super easy to read and was really interested in the plot initially as I have never read a book in which one of the main characters was autistic. I tend to enjoy books from perspectives I cant experience and want to understand better and this was no exception.
I found this book to be heartwarming and sweet, although I do agree with Katie, the whole Esme not telling Khai about her daughter felt quite strange and unrealistic over such a timeframe! Didn't really seem realistic!
Very easy book to read, apart from the few parts there was in Vietnamese. I enjoyed how Khai was portrayed with Autism, and the way he had to explain it to Esme.
Some parts of the book did slightly annoy me, such as the constant second-guessing of self and the way Esme wouldn't tell Khai about her daughter and/real life. They are major parts of any relationship, and it made the book seem even more far-fetched and unbelievable in the end.
Even though there were parts that I found pretty unrealistic, it was an easy book to get through and good endings always give me a warm feeling :)
Weirdest quote: "Unlike Khai. He was meant to be a lone sock. Lone socks had a place in this world, too. Not everyone had two feet."
Overall I gave this book 4 out of 5 stars.
