I was so happy that Katie chose a seasonally fitting book, I had been out of the Christmas spirit a lot more than usual this year so it was nice to be reminded of it, as I usually love Christmas!
I agree with both of the gals however, I liked this book but didn't love it. The first 2/3's of the book I struggled with, however the last 3rd I flew through! It was a homely book and made me feel good in parts and shed a tear or two in others. I enjoyed that there was such a mixture of characters from a range of backgrounds and although it wasn't as cheery throughout as I expected, I ended up liking it more than I thought I would for sure!
Really loved that my gal Katie picked a book suited to the season! It really did put me in a Christmassy mood and being away from home really made me realise how much Christmas is a family thing! This book is super cheese I did like it BUT I didn't love it!
It was a typical cute & happy ending story which is always great. She also writes about the characters in a way that REALLY make you love every single one of them! I don't want to write any spoilers but I did cry like a baby at some parts haha.. sucker for a feel good book!
I did notice quite a few typos which is so weird to see! I did seem to pick up on them a lot more in this book out of most that I have read.. I did also notice a typo of one of the main character's name?! Strange!
However.. overall I really did enjoy the book and Katie picked such a brilliant book for the time of season! Love you gal
As this month was the run-up towards Christmas, I decided to choose a book which would appeal to our festive sides, and excite us. This book seemed to look a little deeper than my usual Chick-Lit choice, and seemed a little sad for Jenny Colgan, as usually her work is very uplifting. Although there was elements of joy and happiness, the book still brought me no real fulfillment and left me feeling a little empty. For that reason, I would rate this book a 3.5 out of 5.
Ps. As I was listening to the audiobook, the american accent got very annoying very quickly. This could have also swayed me towards a lower rating.
Overall I'd give this book 3 out of 5 stars.
